DESTACUTS

My name is Martin Desta aka Destacuts and Iโ€™m a Scottish Eritrean living in Glasgow. I started cutting at the age of 15 for my big brother and friends, I decided at 21 to go to Cardonald College to get my barbering qualification.

I then met my now good friend and boss, at the barbershop I used to get my hair cut. He told me to apply to be an apprentice barber at Rebel Rebel and a few weeks later I secured the job. I quickly started to progress and applied for the SHABA Apprentice of the Year 2019. I kept working hard and when the award show came up I was a finalist, unexpectedly I actually won! The award gave me a lot of exposure and recognition that just fuelled me to keep pushing myself in my barbering career.

I then carried on as a full time barber for 2 years before I decided I needed a new challenge and I knew there was only 1 place I wanted to work, EXSTUDIO with EXTHEBARBER. I wanted to learn how to cut Afro Caribbean hair and where better to learn than off the best himself. As of March 2021 I made the greatest leap in my career to become an employee of EXSTUDIO. In my short time with Ex, I have improved massively and that has been recognised by having the opportunity to cut the hair of Rangers player, Leon Balogun. We have also had some great press coverage and this has only inspired me to keep pushing on and become the very best I can.
